York Region Youth Orchestra (YRYO) Policies
1. Membership and Participation
YRYO is open to young musicians of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
All members are required to attend rehearsals, concerts, and events as scheduled.
Regular practice and preparation are essential for the success of the orchestra.
Active participation and a positive attitude contribute to a harmonious musical environment.
2. Conduct and Respect
All members, parents, and guardians must conduct themselves with respect toward fellow musicians and YRYO staff.

All members must bring their own instruments and necessary equipment (bows, sheet music, etc.).
Percussion members are required to purchase and bring their own instruments, except for the timpani.
If shared instruments are used, they must be returned to their original location after use. Any damage must be reported immediately to the designated staff.
4. Rehearsal and Performance Etiquette
The use of mobile phones during rehearsals is prohibited unless permission is granted by the conductor.
All members must arrive at least 10 minutes before the rehearsal starts to ensure proper preparation.
Members must pay full attention to the conductor and avoid unnecessary conversations or distractions.

Members must wear the designated concert attire. (e.g., black top and bottom, formal shoes, etc.)

6. Safety and Responsibility
All members must follow safety guidelines in rehearsal spaces and performance venues.
Any damages caused by a member’s negligence (e.g., instrument damage, facility damage) may be their financial responsibility.
7. Concert Ticket Policy
To help sustain the operation of YRYO and cover concert-related expenses, each member is expected to support ticket sales for each concert.
Families are encouraged to purchase or help distribute at least five tickets per concert through personal networks (family, friends, teachers, etc.).
If a member is unable to participate in a concert due to personal reasons, we kindly ask that they continue to support ticket sales to ensure the success of the event.
